10/17/2023 0 Comments Harmony rocket![]() ![]() The headstock features "Holiday" silkscreen text, and interestingly enough, the original finish on the headstock face was shot after the tuner bushings were installed, so the bushings themselves are also finished over. The original nylon nut measures 1 3/4" in width. The frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear, and the guitar plays well in every register up the 24 1/4" scale. The dyed maple fretboard sports pearloid dot inlay and original slender fretwire. The maple neck has a deep and substantial U-shaped neck profile carve with tons of heft and shoulder, measuring. Each pickup has strong output across all strings, and when mated with the fully hollow maple body, the tone gets both the immediate attack of the maple and the warmth and fullness of the hollow construction. This pair of gold foils sound great individually, with a particularly full and even tone with both pickups engaged. They have a percussive snap and twang, tight bass, and a harmonically rich midrange that sounds great when each pickup is singled out or when paired together. There's really nothing that can match the balance, clarity, and overall tonal character of original DeArmond Gold Foil pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings and comfortable action, this Harmony Rocket is ready for stage and studio use. Fully hollow and featherweight at only 6lbs 4oz, this Rocket has a bright and crisp acoustic tone that translates well through the pickups. This Rocket is a rare Holiday-branded example sold through the Aldens mail order catalog, and one of the nicer variations of the Rocket platform, featuring a chrome Bigsby-esque vibrato tailpiece and a pair of DeArmond gold foil pickups. This Harmony H59 is sold AS IS and is not returnable unless it arrives in a condition other than as described or photographed.Up for sale, a 1965 Harmony Rocket model H56 in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Pickups: Three DeArmond Goldfoil Moustache Pickups with Adjustable Pole Piecesīridge: Rosewood, Adjustable Floating BridgeĬase: Original Harmony Lined Chipboard case (serviceable, but you’ll want a hard case!) The pickup selector knob is four position, one for each individual pickup and one for all three.īody Material (Top, Back, Sides): Laminate Maple I love these pickups and love this guitar (if I didn’t have an H71 and an H75, I’d probably keep her). Tweak your amp and they are sweet enough for jazz. ![]() The pickups are glorious DeArmond Goldfoils, and they really put out. I believe it may have been repaired previously, from inside the guitar. There is a crack adjacent to the jack plug, but it does not yield to pressure. In truth, there is only one flaw with the guitar, which I have pictured. Both fretboard and frets are in excellent condition. The fretboard on the H59 is what is referred to as an “ebonized” Maple. The action at the twelfth fret of the low E is a fat 1/16th of an inch. There are three DeArmond Goldfoil Moustache Pickups, with adjustable pole pieces, manipulated via six cupcake knobs which adorn the lower rim of the guitar. These have been touched up prior to the guitar being polished. ![]() There were three or four small chips in the original lacquer on the rear of the body. But this one is 100% original an American Beauty with mojo to burn. Run your hand over it with your eyes closed, and you would swear this is a new guitar. This H59 Rocket has a gorgeous Redburst finish with ZERO checking. It dates from the Fall of 1966 and is in a condition somewhere between Excellent and Near Mint. Here is perhaps the prettiest Harmony H59 Rocket you are ever going to see. ![]()
